Well I haven't posted in a while and decided to as I'm waiting for more back up disc to burn for the data I had recovered off a computer that had got a pretty nasty little virus in which someone else had tried to fix it and ended up erasing the whole documents & settings folder. The computer was having issue booting up to begin with where it would attempt to ruin start up repair. So it began as a computer virus remove and turned in to data recovery which I knew is what was going to happen. I started the work on this computer issue I believe sometime in the beginning of last week. First I attempted to try and getting the computer to boot into safe mode/recovery mode and it was a no go. To top off the issue I couldn't find the button to eject the disc so that I could put in a Puppy Linux disc and try to see if I can at least see the files. So I ended up creating a Puppy Linux boot USB flash drive and attempted the same thing that I would have done if I used the Puppy Linux disc. Got it to boot Up with a few key presses and saw that the entire documents & settings folder what missing or corrupted with a yellow triangle with exclamation point. So I know I have a better program I can use on my windows computer for recovering corrupt/deleted data but didn't have the cable to connect a SATA HDD via USB. So I had to order a cable just for that and ended up find one that supports not just SATA HDD but 2.5 and 3.5 IDE HDD. I also do SD card data recovery for my business Rutakus. Anyways I found that it takes a long time to recover data where I end up having to put a fan on my laptop and the HDD in order to keep it cool. I had done this with s a Toshiba Satellite L505. Not a bad laptop but not for task such as this and I would have done it with my desktop computer but I had a power supply failure and still waiting for my new power supply in.
Thank for reading.
